Art for Everyone
Families with children are the fastest-growing homeless population. Children who have experienced homelessness are more likely to experience depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. By helping us bring art to children in homeless shelters you are helping a child build confidence, cope with stress, and express themselves. Not only that, you can also help reduce waste in our community by finding creative ways to repurpose unused supplies.
Check out the ways below to help us bring art to everyone!
So how does Art for Everyone get art to everyone?
Bringing the tools
For kids experiencing homelessness access to art supplies may not always be easy. Despite the benefits of art enrichment if the tools aren’t there then options are limited. One strategy Art For Everyone uses is to take supplies and get them where they are needed. Your job is to help get us supplies. From there we have a dedicated team of volunteers who carefully sort and package supplies in age-specific kits and distribute them to children in local homeless shelter throughout Suffolk County, NY.
Bringing the skills
But art enrichment is not just about having the tools. Its about using those tools in a way to learn and develop. Building skills can mean learning the techniques for evolving one’s artistic expression and it can also mean finding ways to connect creativity with emotional expression and growth. Art For Everyone achieves this goal with our team of mobile art therapy practitioners who meet kids and families where they’re at to provide free art therapy classes.
How can you support Art For Everyone?
-
Host a Paint Event
Interested in contributing more? Consider hosting a paint event, whether for a adults only paint night, kid’s birthday party, employee wellness event, or more! We will cater the event to fit your group needs and budget. Our classes can be scheduled September through May either at your location or our LICC headquarters in Setauket, NY. These events are an amazing space to connect with our community about our important work, have some fun, and raise funds. 100% of paint event proceeds go directly to funding supply needs for our art therapy programing.
-
Host a Supply Drive
One of our biggest donation sources for supplies comes from existing community groups doing a short term supply drive. We provide you with a “supply drive kit” including promotional materials, collection bins, and anything else you need to launch a successful drive. Consider adding this to your next event to make a big difference for kids in need!
